LIMINALITY

A mythological sensibility is the capacity to “read” the movement of spirit in the tangible world.  – James Hollis

I often traverse the liminal edges of reality and enter an imaginal realm of sacred time; a time that does not flow in linear, historic waves, but instead moves in undulations and spirals. To me this felt time is integrated, organic and holy.

It is easy for me to give way to my imaginings as I create. For as I move into the liminal realm of my surroundings, I hear the stories of the trees, lakes, plants and animals as surely as they can hear mine. I continue in this realm as I cross the threshold of my studio and begin to work. Weaving the narratives I hear within my heart together with those I have encountered, creating images that speak to this transient experience.
